June’s research is a transdisciplinary exploration of music technology, critical making, and cultural studies. She has experiences in XR design, digital signal processing research, and performing arts, and builds upon previous work to design digital musical instruments that incorporate divergent bodies in divergent ways. In the first year of her PhD she is currently exploring technologically-meditated listening practices, considering aural diversity and contemporary theories of embodiment. June is also building an electroacoustic instrument centered on vocal resonance and gender expression.

I am a researcher who incorporates ideas from queer theory, posthumanism, and disability studies in the design of musical instruments. I like to explore new ways of listening to, making for, and performing music. My research currently revolves around trans vocal expression and devices for mediating listening.
